This week's Idol voting!
Poll for this week is over here! This week was intersections, which means we paired up with someone and wrote linked entries with the two topics we were given. Our votes are tied together as well, so votes for both of us would help. I teamed up with the awesome tigrkittn this week, and love how our story turned out! Her entry starts the story and can be found here.Mine follows up from there and is found here.If you like, please consider tossing votes our way! Comments on anything you liked or disliked would be good too, can't improve without feedback :) I tried my hand at a bit of noir modern fantasy, which was a completely new experience for me. Was fun and tricky, definitely want to try it again. | | Monday, April 2nd, 2012 | | 8:44 pm |

LJ Idol, Second Chance
Signup sheet for Second Chance LJ Idol is up over here. I'm thinking about signing up, but still debating it in my head and decided what the hell, I'm going to do it :D. I got voted out at a pretty good time. It gave me a chance to use what writing time I had to write, edit to a shine, and submit a story at The Crimson Pact for Volume 3. They've closed submissions and should be reviewing entries now. Along with the usual email letting me know the system received my email, I got a reply from the editor letting me know that he read and liked the first paragraph and wishing me luck on being accepted. I thought that was pretty awesome of him to do, as I imagine he's busy as hell doing this, his own writing, cons, and his full time day job. *crosses fingers* I've also had time to work on a story I want to submit to Daily Science Fiction. (I really want to submit it to tor.com, but I'd wither and die trying to wait months or possibly up to a year for a response). I think I have about 600 words left to finish drafting, then want to do another pass filling in some more details, then a good solid editing pass to make it flow well and make sure voice, tense, etc is all as tight as I can get it. Then my alpha readers, then I want to find some beta readers, then submit :) Hoping to get up to the alpha readers part of this by late Sunday night. That'd be just in time for me to start doing SC as a palate cleanser while I contemplate the next rough story idea I have. So yeah, I haven't been home gaming but I have been writing :D I'll mull it over and see how I'm leaning after work tonight Here we go! Cheers! | | Thursday, December 15th, 2011 | | 1:53 pm |

[LJ Idol, Week 8-7] All I am, is what you say I am.
Thank you for setting the record straight. I thought I knew who I was, and what I was doing, but I was wrong. Apparently, I have no morals because I tried to take the cheap way out to win votes. I have no respect for my fellow contestants, because it's obvious I was saying I thought everyone's writing was worse than nothing. I have no originality, because it's been done before and nobody else would think of doing what I did. I have no talent, because everyone could have done it better, all it took was a little change here or there. I put forth no effort, because anyone could have done that quickly and the time and effort you put into it is what counts. I have no wit, no skill, nothing clever to say, and definitely no reason to be participating. I apparently did it because I had no desire to play anymore. I have no chance and no future here. All I am is the reflection of me as seen in my peers. I guess then all have to say this week is, thanks for nothing. It really helped. | | Monday, December 5th, 2011 | | 10:13 pm |

NaNoWriMo 2011
I'm pretty sure I'm nuts but I'm going to participate in this year's NaNoWriMo on top of LJ Idol and work and stuff. One thing that will make it interesting is kdb22 and I picked each other's plots and genres as a challenge. On the 15th, we're going to give each other a major plot twist to work in. Should be fun :D This is the challenge she has given me: "A girl in her early 20's is flipping through her radio on the way to work and discovers a station that is broadcasting voices of the dead. She knows it's the dead because her mother speaks to her, tries to engage her, but her parents died mysteriously when she was 15. After attempting to research the station, she finds nothing. The station does not exist and yet, it is there every time she gets in the car. She tries other cars, other radios, homes, stores, everywhere she can find a radio, with zero success. Only on that channel and only in her car. Not only does the few people she told about this think she is losing her mind, her friends are tempted to have her institutionalized. But, the character believes there is a reason this is happening to her and only to her. Only she can hear them. Only she hears them asking for help. Since no one believes her and she cannot risk making anyone think she is still hearing the voices, she has to face it alone. What do they want and what can she do to help them?" I think it goes really well with the writing mood I've been in recently :D I'll let her share her prompt if she'd like in the comments :) I'm on NaNo's website as Dizzydog (big surprise). Who else is participating this year? NaNo had a link under its offers page to http://www.yarny.me , which is a cloud based writing tool. I'm going to give it a try, will let me access my story from whatever computer/location/OS I'm on at any given point which is nice, and automatically backs things up which I'm terrible at. | | Saturday, October 29th, 2011 | | 12:09 am |
